Le Festival projette non seulement des programmes de films d’animation mais organise des expositions et des discussions en lien avec les films. Des ateliers et des masterclasses sont mises en place chaque année pour tous les publics – jeunes\, adultes\, gens curieux\, amateurs et professionnels. Le Festival encourage de plus la synergie entre les artistes de tous horizons pour créer des oeuvres transdisciplinaires autour de l’image en mouvement. Durant ces quinze dernières années\, Monstra n’a pas seulement grandi\, mais a établi et renforcé ses liens avec cette ville extraordinaire de Lisbonne\, mais aussi partout dans le monde. DESCRIPTION:Rencontre avec Abi Feijó\nVendredi 9 octobre 2015 de 14h00 à 17h00 | MEG – Auditorium – GRATUIT\nLes masterclasses sont destinées prioritairement aux étudiants de la HEAD-Genève et aux enseignants.\nGratuit et ouvert au public sous réserve de places disponibles. \n  \nAbi Feijó proposera une masterclass sur le travail qu’il a développé dans ses ateliers de cinéma d’animation où il exploite différents techniques d’animation et supports pédagogiques.\n Abi Feijó will be giving a masterclass on the animation techniques he has developed in his workshops\, for which he makes use of different pedagogical resources. \nNé en 1956 à Braga (Portugal)\, Abi Feijó\, diplômé de l’école des Beaux-Arts de Porto\, est un réalisateur de film d’animation et producteur portugais\, fondateur des deux prestigieux studios Filmógrafo et Ciclope Filme. Durant un stage à l’Office canadien du film (ONF)\, Abi Feijó réalise son premier court métrage Oh que Calma\, puis de retour au Portugal A Noite Saiu à Rua (1987). Dans son travail\, Il explore la plasticité de différentes techniques (dessins\, sable) et s’appuie sur une trame narrative très écrite.\nEn 1993\, son court métrage Os Salteadores (Les Brigands) drame politique renvoyant à un incident récent et douloureux de l’histoire portugaise\, sera couronné de prix. Suivront Fado Lusitano (1995)\, Clandestino (2000).\nAbi Feijó est également le producteur de tous les films de Regina Pessoa (La nuit\, Histoire tragique avec fin heureuse\, Kali le petit vampire). Il a fondé Casa Museu de Vilar\, un centre culturel dédié à l’animation à Porto et a enseigné à l’université catholique de Porto\, à l’Université nationale des arts de Taiwan\, à l’Université d’Algarve et à l’Escola Superior Artística de Porto et de Guimarães. \nBorn in Braga\, Portugal\, in 1956\, Abi Feijó is a portuguese animation filmmaker and producer.\n A graduate of the Oporto School of Fine Arts\, he founded the two prestigious film studios Filmógrafo and Ciclope Filme. In 1984\, he joined the National Film Board of Canada for an animation internship which resulted in the short film Oh que Calma\, followed by A Noite Saiu à Rua (1987) upon his return to Portugal. In his work\, Abi explores the plasticity of different techniques (drawing\, sand) and relies on carefully-written scenarios. In 1993\, he made\n The Outlaws (Os Salteadores)\, a political drama recalling a painful incident in recent Portuguese history\, which won numerous international awards. He then directed Fado Lusitano in 1995 and Stowaway in 2000.\n Abi Feijó is also the producer of Regina Pessoa’s movies. He founded Casa Museu de Vilar\, a cultural centre devoted to the art of animation in Oporto\, and has taught in various institutions such as the Universidade Católica do Porto\, the Tainan National University of the Arts (Taiwan)\, the Universidade do Algarve and the Escola Superior Artística do Porto e de Guimarães.

DESCRIPTION:Vendredi 9 octobre 2015 de 18h00 à 20h00 | MEG – Auditorium | GRATUIT\nDouble concert avec entracte | Double concert with intermission \n\nMoços D’uma Cana\nMoços D’uma Cana est une jeune formation de violas campaniças de Castro Verde\, fondée et dirigée par le professeur José Abreu\, musicien et artisan\, qui enseigne aux étudiants à fabriquer leur instrument et à en maîtriser les techniques de jeu. Moços D’uma Cana apporte une nouvelle jeunesse au répertoire\, tout en restant fidèle à l’essence de cet instrument\, sa tradition et sa mémoire. \nLa viola campaniça\nPendant la première moitié du XXème siècle\, la viola campaniça\, instrument à cordes joué avec le pouce\, était la reine des bals du sud de l’Alentejo. On retrouve celle-ci aussi dans les tavernes\, accompagnant les chants\, comme le «Cante ao Despique» (les joutes de chants)\, et d’autres types de chants\, improvisés et entonnés pendant des heures. Des chanteurs et des musiciens comme Manuel Bento\, Perpétua Maria et Francisco António ont sauvé de l’oubli cet instrument par l’authenticité de leur interprétation. La viola demeure aujourd’hui l’ambassadrice culturelle de cette région. \nMoços D’uma Cana\nMoços D’uma Cana is a group of young musicians from Castro Verde\, who play violas campaniças founded and directed by professor José Abreu\, a musician and artisan\, who teaches students to build their own instrument and play them\, perfecting their techniques. Moços D’uma Cana brings fresh youthfulness to the repertoire\, while remaining faithful to the essence of the instrument and its tradition and history. \nLa viola campaniça\nDuring the first half of the 20th century\, the viola campaniça\, a stringed instrument played with the thumb\, was the queen of the ball in the southern Alentejo region. The instrument was also a staple in taverns\, accompanying songs like the “Cante ao Despique” (the jousting of songs)\, and other types of ballads\, improvised and belted out for hours. Aux Beaux-Arts de Porto\, elle s’initie aux techniques de l’animation.\nAnimatrice dès 1992 au studio portugais Filmógrafo – Estúdio de Cinema de Animação do Porto\, elle participe alors à la création de plusieurs films d’Abi Feijo (Os Salteadores\, Fado Lusitanio\, Clandestino). En 1999\, elle réalise son premier court métrage\, La nuit\, en filmant en 35mm ses gravures sur plâtre pour narrer l’histoire d’une petite fille qui a peur du noir. En 2005\,\nelle entame le deuxième volet de sa trilogie sur l’enfance\, Histoire tragique avec fin heureuse\, une coproduction entre le Portugal (Ciclope)\, la France (Folimage) et le Canada (ONF)\, qui remportera de nombreux prix dans le monde entier\, dont unen 2006 le «Cristal du Festival international du film d’animation d’Annecy» et un prix au Festival d’Hiroshima 2012. Ce film reste\, à ce jour\, le court métrage le plus primé de l’histoire de l’animation portugaise. Kali le petit vampire\, coproduction entre le Portugal\, la France\, la Suisse et le Canada\, est son troisième court métrage\, avec pour bande sonore originale la musique des Young Gods.\nDurant cette masterclass\, elle fera découvrir aux enfants son univers graphique. \nBorn in 1969 in Coimbra\, Portugal\, Regina Pessoa spent her childhood minutiously observing her uncle’s coal drawings on the walls of the house. At the Fine Arts University of Porto\, she was initiated into the world of animation techniques. An animator since 1992 in the Portuguese studio Filmógrafo – Estúdio de Cinema de Animação do Porto\, Pessoa has participated in the creation of several films by Abi Feijo (The Brigands\, Fado Lusitanio\, Clandestino).\n In 1999\, she completed her first short film\, The Night\, filming her engravings on plaster with 35mm to narrate the story of a young girl who is afraid of the dark. In 2005\, she began work on the second installment of her trilogy on childhood\, Tragic Story with a Happy Ending\, a co-production with Portugal (Ciclope)\, France (Folimage) and Canada (NFB)\, which won numerous awards worldwide\, including the “Cristal” at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival in 2006\, and the Jury Prize at theHiroshima Festival in 2007. To this day\, the film remains the most award-winning short in the history of Portuguese animated film. DESCRIPTION:Atelier animé par Marta Revés Guerreiro pour clore en beauté le programme portugais au MEG!\nDimanche 11 octobre 2015 de 17h00 à 18h00 | MEG – RDV dans le hall d’accueil | GRATUIT | TOUT PUBLIC \n La danse\, intimement liée à la musique\, fait partie de la tradition populaire de la région de l’Alentejo\, comme un peu partout au Portugal. À l’origine\, elle renvoie à des moments de célébration religieuse et de réunions conviviales. On la retrouve dans l’Alentejo les bals chantés surtout dans les foires\, les festivals et les fêtes folkloriques populaires\, puis à la fin du XIXème siècle dans l’intérieur des maisons\, pour répondre à cette nouvelle société des loisirs\, où chaque classe a ses propres représentations et ses façons de se divertir.\nPédeXumbo\, l’Association pour la promotion de la musique et de la danse a été créée en 1998. Elle a fait connaître de nouvelles formes d’art\, inspirées des danses de salon et des danses européennes\, jusque-là inconnues au Portugal. Elle a également formé de nouveaux artistes et a contribué à promouvoir la danse traditionnelle au Portugal. \n\nA collective dance workshop with Marta Revés Guerreiro to close the Portuguese programme at the MEG in style!\nDance\, closely tied to music\, is a part of the popular tradition of the Alentejo region\, like just about everywhere in Portugal.\nAt its origins\, dance is linked to moments of religious celebration and festive gatherings. In Alentejo\, singing balls were held at fairs\, festivals and popular folkloric parties\, and at the end of the 19th century in private houses\, to respond to the new leisure society where each class had its own versions and ways of entertaining themselves.\nPédeXumbo\, an association for the promotion of music and dance\, was founded in 1998. The association has unearthed new art forms based on salon dances and European dances\, unknown up until this point in Portugal.
