Le festival Animatou fête ses 10 ans
Pour souffler ses 10 bougies Animatou endosse son costume félin, magnifiquement confectionné par Thomas Perrodin, créateur des visuels du festival 2015.
Thomas a la patte dont nous rêvions pour marquer ce jubilé!
Tout de chats vêtus, Animatou se pavane dans différents lieux, adaptant sa parure au gré des évènements. Des salles de cinémas indépendantes aux musées en passant par une caravane itinérante et une salle de concert, il agrandit son périmètre d’action qui lui confère une source d’expérimentation unique.
L’Alhambra – un lieu mythique dont la réouverture tant attendue nous donne l’honneur d’inaugurer son nouvel écran. En point de mire, la Docanim’s, une nouvelle section de documentaires animés en compétition, la compétition suisse et les 15 heures de marathon de l’animation internationale en compétition.
Le Bâtiment d’Art Contemporain (BAC) – un laboratoire d’images où la création inédite d’un film d’animation expérimental naîtra de l’imagination des 11 illustrateurs suisses dont les illustrations ont accompagné Animatou jusqu’à ses 10 ans. Ce lieu offre au festival non seulement un lieu de diffusion mais de création.
Le Musée d’ethnographie de Genève (MEG) pour mettre en avant le Portugal, notre pays invité d’honneur, avec une programmation tant cinématographique qu’ethnographique et culinaire, avec des concerts, des démonstrations d’artisanat, un atelier danse et une table ronde autour de l’identité portugaise.
Ah! le Portugal … un pays à découvrir, chaleureux et ouvert qui déborde de générosité.
Animatou, après 10 ans d’existence, se porte bien, il s’affirme et est heureux de la reconnaissance que le public et les institutions lui confèrent. Il ne lui manque plus qu’à obtenir les ressources financières nécessaires afin d’assurer ses engagements.
Le festival vous invite du 1er au 11 octobre 2015 à découvrir un programme qui se profile comme drôle ou grinçant, décapant ou amer, tendre et généreux … à l’image des réalisatrices et réalisateurs qui nous ont soumis leurs films, le noyau et l’essence même du festival.
Nous vous attendons pour fêter notre anniversaire au Barduba de l’Alhambra, à l’Alhambar, au bar Vertico du BAC ou au Bouffon de la Taverne jusqu’au bout de la nuit pour des soirées festives et plus si affinités!

Animatou is 10 years old! To celebrate this momentous occasion, the festival is showcasing the gorgeous feline outfits crafted by Thomas Perrodin, a visual artist whose hand marks this special 2015 edition.
All dressed up in tomcats, Animatou will be out and about in the city of Geneva and tailor its attire to the various locations that will host the celebrations: independent cinema theatres, a museum, a mobile caravan and a refurbished concert hall – all add to our magnified range of action and new sources of experimentation.
The Alhambra theatre — this legendary concert hall is finally reopening after years of restoration, just in time for us to have the honour of inaugurating its brand new screen. It will host the new Animated Documentary Competition, the Swiss Shorts Competition, and a marathon day of 15 hours of screening for the International Shorts Competition.
The Bâtiment d’Art Contemporain (BAC) — an image laboratory where the imagination of 11 visual artists whose drawings have accompanied Animatou for the last 10 years will come together and father an experimental animation short to mark this grand occasion. The venue will provide both a creation space and a screening theatre.
The Musée d’ethnographie de Genève (MEG) is the designated institution to highlight this year’s guest-of-honour country: Portugal. A broad programme will explore various aspects of Portuguese culture encompassing cinema, gastronomy, handicrafts, danse and music with screenings, workshops, concerts and a discussion around Portuguese identity.
Ah! Portugal… a warm, welcoming and generous country to (re)discover in downtown Geneva.
After 10 years in existence, Animatou is doing pretty well; grateful for its recognition by audiences and local institutions alike, it is beginning to assert itself, though we need to find and secure regular financial resources to be able to function at full capacity.
Funny, dark, corrosive, bitter, loving and generous, our broad programme reflects the image of the directors who have submitted their films, making up the core and essence of the festival. Join the merrymaking at the Alhambra Bardubas, the Alhambar, the Vertico bar (BAC), and the Bouffon de la Taverne bar from 1st to 11th October 2015, to celebrate, discuss, and drink (and more, if there’s chemistry) into the early hours!
