Thibault Walter (1978) est maître d’enseignement et de recherche en études culturelles du son (sound studies) à l’Ecole Cantonale d’Art de Lausanne (ECAL). Curateur, il dirige le programme des performances sonores du Lausanne Underground Film & Music Festival (LUFF) depuis sa création en 2002. Éditeur, il co-dirige la collection Rip on/off publiant des traductions françaises de textes d’artistes sonores, noise ou radio tel que Zbigniew Karkowski, Helen Thorington, GX Jupitter-Larsen, Michael Gendreau, Gregory Whitehead, David Dunn, Leif Elggren, Yan Jun, Nicolas Collins, Kenneth Gaburo et Diamanda Galas.
Traducteur, il vient de sortir en français avec Christian Indermuhle et Vincent Barras, les notes sur la musique expérimentale d’Alvin Lucier, aux éditions Héros-Limite (2019). Artiste, il est l’auteur et interprète des conférences-performances Je suis assis entre deux haut-parleurs diffusant du bruit blanc ; Im-pertinences du son ; de la multidiffusion Acousmatic Striptease ; et entre autres du groupe noise En Pire (ex-U2).
Thibault Walter (1978) is a senior lecturer and researcher in sound studies at the Cantonal School of Art in Lausanne (ECAL). As a curator, he has managed the sound performance programme of the Lausanne Underground Film & Music Festival (LUFF) since its creation in 2002. As a publisher, he directs the Rip on/off collection of French translations of texts by sound, noise and radio artists such as Zbigniew Karkowski, Helen Thorington, GX Jupitter-Larsen, Michael Gendreau, Leif Elggren, Gregory Whitehead, David Dunn, Leif Elggren, Yan Jun, Nicolas Collins, Kenneth Gaburo and Diamanda Galas.
Walter is also a translator and recently published the French translation of Alvin Lucier’s work on experimental music with Christian Indermuhle and Vincent Barras (Héros-Limite). As an artist, Walter wrote and acted in the conference-performances I am sitting between two loudspeakers playing white noise; Im-pertinences of sound; and Acousmatic Striptease. He plays in the noise group En Pire (ex-U2).
