50 ans – et maintenant ? Regarder le chemin parcouru et devenir nostalgique ? Non: nous sortons de nos studios, allons à la rencontre du public et présentons nos projets actuels.
La nouvelle est venue alors que nous étions dans le train en route vers le Festival d’Annecy. Bruno Edera avait dû être transféré dans un établissement médico-social.
Sa maladie est trop avancée. Il ne se souvient plus. Pas même de son travail qui a marqué durablement la TSR, aujourd’hui la RTS, ni même de sa passion, l’art du cinéma d’animation. Ni de son rôle clé dans la création du Groupement Suisse du Film d’Animation, le GSFA.
Bruno Edera ne se souvient plus, mais nous oui. Notamment grâce au livre de Bruno “Histoire du cinéma suisse d’animation” paru en 1978. A cette époque, le GSFA n’avait que 10 ans, mais le cinéma d’animation suisse avait déjà plus de 50 ans d’histoire.
Aujourd’hui, le GSFA fête ses 50 ans. Nous nous souvenons de Bruno et de tous les femmes et hommes qui ont laissé leur empreinte créative dans le cinéma d’animation suisse. Et nous regardons le présent et l’avenir en réalisant des films ensemble. A l’instar du film omnibus 50:50 réalisé grâce au concours d’une centaine de contributeurs, présenté en avant-première à Animatou. 50 ans exactement après la création du GSFA à Genève, où tout a commencé. 50 years – and now what? Look back at the road travelled and wax nostalgic? No – we’ll emerge from our studios, face the public and show them our current projects.
The news came when we were in the train on our way to the Annecy Festival. Bruno Edera had been transferred to a nursing home. His disease was too far advanced. He had lost his memory. Even of his work, which had a lasting impact on the TSR, today the RTS (Radio Television Switzerland), and even of his passion, the art of animated film. Nor could he remember the key role he played in the creation of the GSFA, the Swiss Animation Film Group.
Bruno Edera couldn’t remember, but we do. In part thanks to Bruno’s book, “A History of Swiss Animated Film”, published in 1978. At that time, the GSFA was only ten years old, but Swiss animation already counted more than 50 years of history.
This year, the GSFA is celebrating its 50th anniversary. We remember Bruno and all the women and men who left their creative mark on Swiss animation. And we look to the present and the future as we collaborate on films together. Like the omnibus film, created with the help of over one hundred contributors and screened for the first time at Animatou. Exactly 50 years after the GSFA’s creation in Geneva, where it all started. Thank you Animatou!
